Timing

The best time to post on TikTok and Instagram in 2026

The "best time to post" articles on the internet are lying to you. Not on purpose. It's just that there is no universal best time.

Your best time depends on your audience, your timezone, and your niche.

The 4 minute way to find yours

  1. Open TikTok analytics (Settings → Creator Tools → Analytics → Followers).
  2. Scroll to "Follower activity."
  3. Look at when your followers are most active. That is your window.
  4. Post 30 to 60 minutes BEFORE that peak.

Why 30 to 60 minutes before? Because the algorithm needs a bit of runway to test your video on a small group first. You want the second wave to hit right as your audience opens the app.

Rough defaults if you have zero data

  • General audience: 7am, 12pm, 7pm local time.
  • Students / teens: 3pm to 5pm and 9pm to 11pm.
  • Business / founders: 7am and 9pm.
  • Parents: 9pm to 11pm (once the kids are down).
  • Fitness: 5am to 7am and 6pm to 8pm.

The bigger truth

Great content posted at a bad time still wins. Bad content posted at the "perfect" time still dies. Timing is a 10% lever. Hook and retention are the other 90%.

Fix the hook first. Then optimise the time. Not the other way around.
