How to go viral on TikTok and Instagram in 2026 (based on what ACTUALLY works)

Why most TikTok advice is actually outdated

Yep. Outdated. The algorithm changes constantly, and you're probably taking advice from a creator who posted 4 months ago. For reference, I'd be sceptical if it was posted a month or two ago.

Unless it was obvious things like, "your hooks need to do this and that…"

Okay, so you're probably thinking: "then why should I take advice from YOU?" Well, actually, I'm not asking you to. You need to get AI to do it — come up with your scripts, your hooks, and tell you HOW specifically to improve each video every day.

I'll tell you the exact FREE tool I use at the end.

TL;DR: TikTok advice is outdated. Things change super frequently. Get AI to do the heavy lifting.

How the TikTok algorithm actually works

TikTok is simple. You post a video, then TikTok pushes it out to a test audience of a couple hundred people. How those people interact with it determines whether the video gets pushed further — that's how you end up in "200 view jail."

Low watch time and no engagement = the video does not get pushed further.

The most important metric is watch time. TikTok makes money from you staying on the platform as long as possible, so they reward creators who can hold attention for the entire video. The longer people watch, the more views you get.

Likes, comments and shares matter — but watch time is king.

The first 3 seconds matter more than ever

If you don't give people a reason to stay, they leave — no views. Your hook must be the most focused part of the video. If the hook is bad, there's no point making the rest.

How to have a good hook

  • Pattern interrupt. Something they've never seen. Think of the purple cow — normal cow, no reaction; purple cow, pull over.
  • Sound effects, music, captions. Stimulation keeps thumbs from swiping.
  • The hook line itself. Bad hook = you're cooked. Use AI to study your niche and pull the hooks that actually get views.

The hook formats dominating TikTok right now

  • Is it possible to [hard but relatable task]?
  • I used to [common task], but now I do [improved task].
  • You probably make this one mistake every day and it's killing your [productivity/cash flow].
  • I learned a lesson today I think I'll remember for the rest of my life…
  • You should stop doing [task] and start doing [improved task].

Common mistakes killing your reach

  • Not analysing your best and worst performing content.
  • Bad hooks / hooks that don't get to the point.
  • No pattern interrupt.
  • Not getting to the point instantly.
  • Low-quality video and audio.
  • Posting inconsistently.

A simple viral content framework

Day 1 — Clone video

Clone yourself as Person A (doing the task wrong) and Person B (doing it right). E.g. A: "I brush my teeth with my finger." B: "I use an electric toothbrush that cleans every particle."

Day 2 — Ranking video

S-to-E tier ranking of things in your niche. E.g. ranking toothbrushes by effectiveness.

Day 3 — Yapper video

Just yap your thoughts on camera. No script, high energy.

Day 4 — Story

Let the audience inside your life with a story you learned.
